From Drills to Firewalls: My Quest for Safe Digital Dentistry

My entire career has been spent in the dental industry as an educator. By the early 2000’s it became apparent that regulations and online threats were both expanding.

I realized the importance of becoming a bridge between regulations, risk, and dentists wanting to leverage technology to advance their practices.

In today’s digital age, where data breaches and cyber threats are prevalent, cybersecurity has become an essential aspect for every organization, including dental practices.

As a cybersecurity instructor with over 20 years of experience helping dental teams, I recognized a significant gap in their understanding of securing their data and practice systems.

This realization led me to establish Myla Training Company, with the mission to make cybersecurity training accessible, fun, easy, and affordable for dentists across the industry.

Most Dentists Struggle:

For far too long, dentists have faced challenges in comprehending cybersecurity and compliance.

Despite sharing similar risks as other organizations, they often lack access to certified professionals to guide them through the intricacies of cybersecurity.

Additionally, their typically smaller budgets limit their ability to invest in comprehensive cybersecurity training.

The scarcity of relevant cybersecurity training in the dental field further compounds the issue, leaving dental practices vulnerable to potential threats.

The Vision Behind Myla Training Company:

I founded Myla Training Company with a singular vision – to become the beacon of cybersecurity education in the dental community.

My goal is to bridge the gap between cybersecurity knowledge and dental practices by offering engaging, helpful, and easily digestible training programs.

By creating a supportive learning environment, Myla Training Company empowers dental teams to take charge of their practice’s security and protect their patients’ sensitive data.

Making Cybersecurity Fun and Easy:

Understanding that cybersecurity can be daunting, I strive to deliver training in a fun, easy-going manner using plain language.

By adopting an approachable teaching style, I aim to break down complex concepts into manageable, practical steps.

Dental professionals shouldn’t feel overwhelmed by technical jargon or discouraged by the complexity of cybersecurity.

Instead, they should feel empowered to embrace cybersecurity as a fundamental life skill that safeguards their practices and patients.

Accessibility and Affordability:

One of the cornerstones of Myla Training Company’s philosophy is making cybersecurity training accessible to all dental practices, regardless of their size or budget.

I firmly believe that no dentist should be denied the opportunity to secure their practice due to financial constraints.

By offering affordable training options, I aspire to remove any barriers that might prevent dental teams from receiving the knowledge they need to protect their practices.

Creating a Safe Dental Community:

The dental profession holds a special place in our lives as we all seek dental care at some point. With technology becoming increasingly integrated into our daily routines, ensuring the security of dental practices is more critical than ever.

By elevating cyber skills to the status of basic life skills, Myla Training Company aims to create a safer online environment for the entire dental community.

Looking Forward:

Myla Training Company was born out of a desire to address the challenges that dentists face in understanding cybersecurity and compliance.

Through engaging and affordable training, we strive to empower dental teams to safeguard their data, practice systems, and, most importantly, their patients’ trust.

By making cybersecurity accessible and enjoyable, we envision a dentistry industry where every practice stands strong against cyber threats, ensuring a safer digital landscape for all.

Together, let’s embrace cybersecurity as a fundamental life skill and protect the future of dentistry.
